Hot, sexy Freebies Episode 1

I am always looking for a good bargain so I thought I would share the hottest free reads I have read this week.

Book 1 in the Dance series. Robbed of her self-esteem during a loveless marriage, recently divorced Lyssa Markham allows her best friend to drag her, costumed as Salome, to a masquerade. She's shocked then intrigued to discover the participants are members of an exclusive sex club. Hiding behind her mask, she permits her long-submerged sensual side to re-emerge as erotic sights and sounds bombard her. Seeing a darkly sexy gladiator inspires her to dance for him, seductively removing one veil at a time until she falls naked into his hot embrace.Days later, she learns her ex has neglected to fulfill an urgent financial stipulation in the divorce decree. Unable to reach him, she storms into his lawyer's office to resolve the problem and comes face to face with her gladiator. His first words, "Lift up your skirt…Salome."Robert Savidge is everything a woman could want—rich, handsome, successful. Should she obey her impulse and run from him? Or can she find the courage to explore her nascent sensuality with this man who so obviously wants to teach her?

I absolutely LOVED this book! The characters are honest, heart warming and real, and as a divorcee in her thirties I can totally relate to this story. It is the first Cris Anson book I have read and I will be reading many more after. The dangerous part is that now I am MUST read the rest of the series :)

The Shareem: Males created to be tall, muscled, sexy, and...enhanced. They come in one of three levels--pure sensual pleasure, games and wicked fun, or the ultimate barbarian complete with whip. They know how to bring a woman to ecstasy and exactly how to keep her there. When Lady Talan d'Urvey reads the diary of a woman who spent one wicked week with a Shareem, she longs to experience the same carnality in one last fling before she takes her vow of celibacy. She goes in search of a Shareem and finds Rees, tall and blond, with Shareem-blue eyes. Just looking into those eyes makes Talan wild with need. But Rees is a Shareem experiment that never should have been made. Rees is all the Shareem levels rolled into one, and then some. Rees is uncontrollable, Rees is unpredictable. Even Rees's creators could never, ever be sure exactly what he would do...

Note: The Tales of the Shareem stories are hot, hot, hot! Read with oven mitts. You have been warned.

Out of this world futuristic novels are not usually my cup of tea, but when it is free I am willing to be a bit more adventurous. In this case I am glad I did because it was an enjoyable experience. Nice concept and world building. Sweet story and super hot sex, what more could I ask for?

But in order to get Lacey past her insecurities, Nick will have to put it all on the line-including his heart-and pray he doesn-t lose her forever.

Warning, this title contains the following: explicit sex using graphic terms. A naughty make-out session in a public place, and lots of steam.

To be honest I am only on the first page of this book, but it looks pretty good and it is a freebie so I wanted to share. It is the shortest of the lot at 1604 Kindle locations but the follow up books in the series are priced accordingly in the 2-3 Dollar range.

Thanks for reading this edition of Hot, Sexy Freebies! Please feel free to submit ideas for future editions.

Caught in a love triangle with cosmic repercussions, Sarah represents all women when she decides to let her heart make her choice.

Love is the sweetest suffering.

Review

First Heresy and now Erra! It seems Poppet has created a genre of her own. There are many genres I could use to try and describe Erra but none of them will fit well and accurately describe her work.

It is not often in a lifetime that an author manages to so completely change the game, to be so completely unique that if discovered they would revolutionize the literary world. Poppet is that author and Erra is but one of her amazing works.

Each time Poppet writes something new I fall in love again and I have a new favourite. Each time I think surely I cannot be surprised again, and yet I am. Each one of her works is a new experience for me as I learn new things and find new loves. Poppet does not merely write she lays out a literary smorgasbord of delights for her readers to feast on. Each nuance is carefully researched and laid before us as an offering, a sensual treat and a sensory explosion.

Review

I wrote this review in the form of a letter to the author because that is how it started. I fell in love with the book so much I felt compelled to message her directly about it. Once I had finished I realized I might as well write a review: So here it is.

I just finished reading Hidden Talents and I truly enjoyed it. Your unique perspective was so very refreshing. You honored the traditions of were and fae yet still made it completely unique and your own. I really loved that Ari was such an incredibly realistic heroine instead of the chaste and quaking virgin. I love that she is sexually experienced and adventurous yet still appreciated by her Alpha who was absolutely perfect for a change instead of the domineering chauvanistic assholes currently popular. Don't get me wrong sometimes those are fun too as well as the whole virginal bit but sometimes just sometimes I want a little down to earth mixed in with my fantasy. I love that you were able to depict an Alpha with every trait I love including strength, loyalty, compassion, protectiveness and love. Yes ladies a real man is someone who is not afraid to be mushy infront of the guys because he realizes what is truly important in life. Adam was truly my dream man :)
I have been reading quite a bit of shifter type paranormal romance, urban fantasy stuff lately but I have to admit this book stood head and shoulders above most of what is out there right now. Emma Holly's world and concept building skills are quite impressive. There were several new character archetypes that I really liked as well as old school ones that were done very very well and true to form. An example of this is her depiction of the Fae Lord! Yes most authors will mention how beautiful they are to all other creatures, but none other than Emma Holly have truly been able to depict exactly how intoxicating their presence is to others. She absolutely nailed it! So much so that I would love to read a book about this wonderful creature and the songstress he pines for.

As a final endorsement (All sensitive souls should look away now) I have to say that Hidden Talents has some of the most fanFUCKINGtastic, hottest, steamiest, raunchiest, earth shattering and wonderfully origional sex scenes I have read in a long long time. Emma Holly gives Lora Leigh a very serious run for her money.

At 3.99 on Amazon this book is a wonderful bargain and an exceptional read.

Blood Prophecy by Barb Jones and Jerry Wright

Blurb
Amber Stone, once a child prodigy, has just become curator of a special collection of Macedonian artifacts for the Seattle Museum of
Natural History. Chloe, a prodigy of a different sort, holds a position at the museum focusing on tribal art. The two become fast friends, united by Amber’s unsettling dreams and Chloe’s unorthodox ways of dealing with them. Two strangers arrive in town, bringing with them a prophecy recorded more than three-thousand years ago, a prophecy that places Amber directly in the midst of a battle that has spanned millennia.

The first thing I noticed about Blood Prophecy is that it was incredibly in depth. By the time you finish this book you will have a very clear idea about the characters and the story behind them. Yet the authors still managed to keep the this adventure down to earth and entirely enjoyable.  The read is smooth and easy and I did not find myself struggling through lengthy chapters fighting the urge to skim. (Yes I am an impatient reader) In fact I found myself relishing every moment and savoring every word.

The next thing I noticed was that the characters are all together real and enitrely believable. I loved that Michael's character is an absolute prat and yet I still find myself rooting for him. This is a feat not easily pulled off where I am concerned so I find it very commendable. I in actual fact enjoyed every character in this novel including the dastardly ones. There were some wonderful confrontation scenes that had me wondering just how they were going to make it out of this situation and yet they did in a sometimes slighty too extraordinary flourish. The good news is that I love a good adventure no matter how improbable and Blood Prophecy is exactly that. If I wanted realism I would read a text book!

Blood Prophecy: Queen's Destiny has left itself wide open for a rip roaring series of books and I am looking forward to reading every single one of them.

The Demon Lover by Juliet Dark

This title will be released on December 27, 2011.

I gasped . . . or tried to. My mouth opened, but I couldn’t draw breath. . . . His lips, pearly wet, parted and he blew into my mouth. My lungs expanded beneath his weight. When I exhaled he sucked in my breath and his weight turned from cold marble into warm living flesh.

Since accepting a teaching position at remote Fairwick College in upstate New York, Callie McFay has experienced the same disturbingly erotic dream every night: A mist enters her bedroom, then takes the shape of a virile, seductive stranger who proceeds to ravish her in the most toe-curling, wholly satisfying ways possible. Perhaps these dreams are the result of writing her bestselling book, The Sex Lives of Demon Lovers. After all, Callie’s lifelong passion is the intersection of lurid fairy tales and Gothic literature—which is why she finds herself at Fairwick’s renowned folklore department, living in a once-stately Victorian house that, at first sight, seemed to call her name.

But Callie soon realizes that her dreams are alarmingly real. She has a demon lover—an incubus—and he will seduce her, pleasure her, and eventually suck the very life from her. Then Callie makes another startling discovery: He’s not the only mythical creature in Fairwick. As the tenured witches of the college and the resident fairies in the surrounding woods prepare to cast out the incubus, Callie must accomplish something infinitely more difficult—banishing this demon lover from her heart.

Victoria Holt style gothic romance meets modern day paranormal erotica!
Those of us that love this genre are fortunate enough to be experiencing a wonderful new array of urban fantasy and paranormal romance novels. We are absolutely spoiled for choice and can practically pick any fantasy our heart desires because of it. The unwanted side effect of this is that pretty much every scenario has been played, every angle has been looked at and every fantasy whim has been satisfied. There are a small group of novelists who are transcending these barriers and leading their imaginations through even wilder and darker paths to places we never imagined could exist.

The awesomely pseudonymed Juliet Dark has managed to do this and more. She has taken the glorious gothic romance genre of yesteryear and blended it with the wonderful urban fantasy and paranormal romance themes of today to create a story that left me breathless. Her storytelling is masterful and commandeering! She took me through every scene and kept me exactly where she wanted me. I felt every nuance and every emotion that Callie experienced, and when her heart was broken I felt the pain as if it were my own. The desperation and despair of her situation and the revelations that followed were so real to me that I could almost feel myself walking through the story through her.

The Demon Lover is going down as one of my best reads of the year and I believe that this book has all the goods to become a true classic of our time.

Tangled Past by Leah Braemel

1887, Texas
Forced to marry a man she just met, Sarah McLeod clings to the hope that she’ll finally find the love and acceptance she’s always craved. But her tenuous dreams of a happy life on the frontier are in danger of being dashed by the one thing she can’t change—her husband’s love for another man.

Ranch owner Nate Campbell loves them both. He hates to see Jackson’s loyalties so divided, and doesn’t want Sarah hurt either. But how can they fix the tangled mess they find themselves in? Nate suggests a possible solution – a permanent threesome.
With the open frontier closing in around them, is Nate’s solution their path to happiness? Or will others destroy what they’ve found together?

This book was such a delight! I fell in love with Sarah, Nate and Jackson while reading their beautiful story set in a time when their way of life was met with death. Leah Braemel's books are shorter than a novel but I found it to be the perfect little interlude I was looking for. Nothing was skimped on and the book came to a perfect conclusion. I love Happilly ever Afters!

Happy Hunk Day Everyone!!!

Deadly Obsession by Katie Reus

Ten years ago, Lilly Carmichael left town without an explanation, breaking Braden Donnelly's heart. The death of her aunt has brought Lilly home-and face-to-face with memories she thought were long buried. Still getting over a traumatic incident from her work as an NSA agent, Lilly initially dismisses the face at her window as a figment of stress-induced paranoia.
Now the sheriff of Hudson Bay, Braden has spent the past year hunting a sadistic murderer. His investigation is turned upside down when new evidence indicates that Lilly is the killer's next target. Determined to protect the woman he's never stopped loving, Braden must race against the clock to trap a dangerous psychopath-before it's too late...

Lilly has suffered from PTSD since surviving an incident so traumatic she questions her own sanity. As the only survivor that was forced to watch and endure the torture and death of her fellow prisoners as well as enduring severe torture of her own she also suffers from severe survivors guilt.

Katie Reus manages to weave these very intense situations and the emotions that inevitably follow into a gripping tale of romance and suspense. I found myself caring for Lilly and Braden a great deal. They each had their own heart break and tragedy to overcome as well as the rekindling of their love for each other.

Be prepared for a massive twist in the tail and a revelation so unexpected it left me gasping and Lilly and Bradon fighting for their lives. I would most definitely seek out more Katie Reus novels in the future.

Heresy book 3 The Scorpian's Sting by Poppet

Just when you think you have Micki all figured out Poppet takes all preconceived notions and turns them upside down AGAIN!! I have never uttered so many expletives reading a book in my natural born life. I cried, I screamed, I ranted and raved. I messaged Poppet several times on her fan page and said "HOW COULD YOU DO THIS TO ME!!!"
Eventually I came to terms with the fact that I had to just let it go and accept the inevitable. I even started appreciating the new set of circumstances and wouldn't you know it by the end of the book she did it AGAIN! There should be a warning label on this book for all pregnant women and heart patients to only read under careful advisement of their doctor.
Now I am sure you are beginning to wonder if I even liked the book at all. I mean all this emotional upheaval cannot be good can it? Oh No, let me assure you IT IS GOOD!!! Oh so very good. Heresy has become my own brand of heroine. I will read every snippet every byte or bit I can get my hands on, and The Scorpian's Sting was no exception.
In The Scorpian's Sting the group find themselves on an island literally in the middle of nowehere. I do not use the term literally frivolously in this case and you are just going to have to read the book to find out exactly what I mean. The island that springs from Poppets imagination is nothing short of spectacular! Every creature comfort and fantastical whim is catered to in this hedonistic paradise.
Once again we reap the benefits of Poppets extensive background in theology and mysticism as we are treated to incredible new insights and perspectives woven through the story. These treasures of knowledge have become the hallmark of the Heresy series. Do not expect to walk away from these books without at least some shifting of your paradigm.

Again Poppet has brought forth a massive undertaking with no less than 12000 kindle locations which is at least twice the length of a full lenght novel. The pace is fast though as is the case for all Poppet books and I still could not put the book down. I finished in less than 24 hours, albeit a sleepless 24 hours.

If you have not read this series do yourself a favor and read it!!! You will not be sorry.

Golden by Joely Sue Burkhart

Available August 29, 2011

Bred for him…and for his bed.
Golden-eyed Jin has spent her life preparing to be the Emperor’s consort. She knows her destiny is to serve the Emperor by indulging the dark desire that he has buried deep inside his heart—the desire to give pain.
Only she can take the pain he yearns to give, and transform it into the most unimaginable pleasure. But to enjoy all the Emperor can give her, she must survive assassination attempts from those who would keep them apart.
Seducing the Emperor is risky…but it’s the only way to fulfill her destiny.

Golden seduced me from the moment I read the blurb! This is a sensuous tale of dark desires and a woman with a single minded focus towards her goal. Jinn's sharp and cunning mind along with her keen political wisdom propell this story out of mere erotica and into pure perfection.

Be aware that this is a BDSM novella, but it is BDSM at it's best. The scenes are beautiful and probably some of the most erotic I have read. My only sorrow was that this was a quick read and I could have remained in the world of Golden lifetimes.

"I saw that shadowed promise of violence in his gaze and burned to loose that tightly chained beast"

Wyoming Tough by Diana Palmer

New York Times and USA TODAY bestselling author DIANA PALMER is back with a new and thrilling romance…
A cowboy through and through, ranch owner Mallory Kirk knows what it means to put in a full day’s work. But does his new cowgirl? He has his doubts that Morie Brannt will be able to pull her own weight, even if the petite young woman does seem to have a lot of spirit.
As they spar over events at the ranch and a past that threatens their hopes for the future, sparks begin to f ly, and Mallory can’t help but notice Morie in a new light. But is this tough Wyoming man ready to love?

The characters of Wyoming Tough were exactly what I look for in good well rounded characters! I love my cowboys tough and gritty and they were definitely all that and more. Diana Palmer made her characters real through and through. She managed to create a leading man that was appealing without having to use the obvious tall, dark and handsome cliche. Even better she avoided the unconventional good looks route. Her leading lady Morie is exactly what I look for in a great role model! She made me want to go work on a ranch and get my hands dirty.
Even though for the most part I could see where the book was going I enjoyed every moment of it. To be honest in this type of book I like knowing where it is going. Don't get me wrong there were some nce twists and turns and surprising outcomes all of which gave me a nice pleasing reading experience. I would definitely seek out more Diana Palmer books in the future when looking for a sweet and rugged romance.

Ecstacy Untamed by Pamela Palmer

They are called Feral Warriors -- an elite band of immortals who can change shape at will. Sworn to rid the world of evil, consumed by secrecy and seduction, their wild natures are primed for release...
Shattered by recent nightmarish events, Hawke feels his bond with his animal spirit weakening -- and once it breaks, he's finished. The arrival of Faith sends his life spinning even further out of control, for although she delights him and enflames his deepest primal passions, she's promised to Maxim, the newest Feral Warrior.
Faith is drawn to Hawke from the start, but Maxim holds her in his thrall and has secretly bent her to his malevolent will. Though gravely damaged, Hawke is the only one who can end Faith's slavery and protect the Feral Warriors from Maxim's evil designs. But first they both must embrace the wild...and surrender body and soul to a forbidden, all-consuming ecstasy.

I have just finished reading Christine Feehan's Leopards series and Lora Leigh's Breed's series so I was more than curious to try Pamela Palmer's Feral Warrior's series. It is never easy to delve into an already established series without knowing the back story and I had my concerns that after being ensconced in Lora Leigh's world for so long I would not be able to appreciate a new concept in the genre. I must admit it did take a few chapters to get my bearings, but once I did I found myself enjoying the story of Hawke and Faith. I will not compare to Christine Feehan and Lora Leigh's books because each author has their own merits and quirks.

What stood out most clearly to me was how likeable the characters were. Hawke and Faith are two of the most genuinely warm and endearing characters I have read in a while, and if for no reason else I will continue reading this series in order to catch cameos of them. All in all the rest of the concept was entertaining and well written. It had a decent and inventive storyline and the right amount of intrigue and suspense to keep the reader well motivated.

Avenger's Angel by Heather Killough-Walden

This title will be released on November 1, 2011

When four female angels were created for the archangels Michael, Gabriel, Uriel and Azrael, a chaos spurned by jealousy erupted, and the archesses were secreted to Earth. The four favored archangels followed, prompting a search that has last millennia. But for Uriel, the former Archangel of vengeance, the search ends the moment he lays eyes on Eleanor Granger, his one true arches. Can he protect her from the danger lying in wait for her-and win her heart?

Avenger's Angel obliterated my pre-conceived notions almost immediately! I should have known better than to expect anything Formulaic from Heather Killough-Walden, and in this book she has managed to keep me guessing yet again. HKRWs Lost Angels series is going to create an entire new paradigm on the subject of Angels and in particular one specific fallen angel we all know well.Over the course of the book each and every one of the characters managed to worm their way into my affections, and I am eagerly looking foward to the next three books in the series so that I can spend more time with them.
HKRW succesfully examines the contours of brotherhood as the four archangels battle together to save Uriel's archess. The odds seem overwhelming at times and through it all they band together with a sense of warmth and cameraderie not often succesfully conveyed. Uriel is thrown into some very dificult situations and undergoes painful changes while Ellie has to come to terms with who she is and just what that means. Against all odds they discover a connection that erupts into some very passionate and heart felt moments.
HKRW does a great job of bringing the many elements together in ways that kept me on the edge of my seat and yearning for more at the end of it. I can honestly say I loved every moment of Avenger's Angel and I cannot wait to meet the next archess.

Solar Eclipse (Book 2 of the Heresy series) by Poppet

I am well and truly HOOKED!!! The story of Micki has captured my heart yet again and the past 24 hours have been spent in agony and ecstacy as the events unfolded.

In Solar Eclipse Micki's story takes a twist so earth shattering that it leaves her friends and Grant reeling against impossible odds while facing the grim realisation that they may have lost Micki forever. The ensuing battle is agonising and heart breaking. There were times when I stopped breathing for so long that I was gasping for air and still I kept reading for almost 24 hours straight.

Poppet's writing style is almost chameleon in it's ability to change to fit what the story needs, but the one element that is present in every single book is sheer INTENSITY. Poppet creates an intensity that I have not seen before in any other writing, and for an adrenaline junkie like me that is pure catnip. There are barriers breeched in this book that many author's fear to touch on and I am sure there will be people that might not be able to handle the content but I am not one of those people. It is probably for this reason that I love Poppet books so much.

As with all good things in life there is balance and thank goodness for that. As much intense heart break as there is in this story there is also intense love. There are moments shared between Micki and Grant that transcend all barriers. I am hard pressed to think of any other book I have read where the moments have been as tender and the love as poignant as the love shared in Solar Eclipse.

I did not think it was possible but at over 15000 Kindle locations book 2 is 3000 Kindle locations longer than book 1. That is an entire novel length longer than the first. There is no doubt that this story is epic and addictive, and I cannot wait for book 3 The Scorpian's Sting to come out this Winter.

Heresy by Poppet

First off I should qualify that I have LOVED every single Poppet book that I have ever read. There is something about her writing style that appeals to me on a very deep level. Her style might come accross as unusual to some people and if it does do not let it stop you, read on and discover what is around the bend because the best thing about Poppet is that she never lets you down.
Heresy is a book that is difficult to categorise! It has elements of several different genres but it belongs in a genre all it's own. If I had to categorise it I would say Paranormal romance with a good dash of Da Vinci code and a dollop of occult horror. Heresy was a rollercoaster from the moment I picked it up till the moment I read the last word and still wanted more. That is no easy feat in a book this long. Kindle users will get my drift when I say there are over 12 000 kindle locations in this book and you will definitely be getting your moneys worth.
The central character in this delicious story is Micki! Micki has spent her life honing her spiritual powers and engaging in the spiritual war between light and dark. In doing so she has gained the attention of a seriously sinister cult that will stop at nothing to destroy her ability to combat their evil by destroying her in the most horrific way possible. Micki is not alone in this fight though and she will need each one of her friends unique skills to make it through the insanity that becomes her world. Throw in some very capable and yummy police officers and you end up with a book that is too hot to handle. I am on the verge of gushing non stop about this book so I will spare you all and stop right now while I enjoy the very sweet knowledge that Heresy is only part 1 of a series and that Poppet will be releasing Part 2 very very shortly because really I love love loved this book!!! One last thought: Henceforth a Pog will always be called a Pog by me and Ya'll are gonna have to read the durn book to find out what that means :)

Seithe by Poppet

This book wrapped itself around me and assaulted my senses like rich dark chocolate and wine! It took me through a sultry journey of dark pleasures and hidden knowledge, through moments of insecurity and uncertainty. The thing I love the most about Poppet's books are the fact that I never can tell where they will take me and I very much feel like I am riding a roller coaster in the dark, they always deliver the ultimate rush for those willing to brave the ride.
Be prepared for surprising twists and turns from an author whos writing is unique and refreshing. Dark an compelling, her work always leaves me breathless.

The Perfect Union by Trina Lane

Calleigh Wells has spent the last three years rebuilding her life after being notified of her husband's death in Iraq. On that darkest day she met Rick Conner and Conor McGuire. Since then the three have become inseperable. Both men have become surrogate father's to Calleigh's twin boys. Lately Calleigh's dreams have been filled with images of sweat slicked skin and twisting limbs. Of Three. Unbeknownest to her Rick and Conor have also hungered to take their friendship to the next level. What will happen when all is revealed?

There was a very enjoyable dynamic to this book and it achieved everything it was meant to achieve. The title fits the story line perfectly as the book conveys every womans fantasy romance. For something this sweet I would change my lifestyle choices too.
Ive always known Irishmen were sexy but this book takes that to a whole new level. *Running off to search for my own sexy Irishmen*

In the mean time for your reading pleasure, a red hot excerpt straight from Trina Lane's Website

Rick knew there was fire in her. It just needed the right kind of spark to ignite. He looked at Conor and saw him nod. He turned Calleigh's head toward him. His hand tunneled in the silky mass of her honey blond hair. Her amber brown eyes darkened as he leaned his head forward. He touched their lips together for the first time. They tasted vaguely of cherry as he flicked his tongue out to taste the soft pillows. Her mouth opened and he slipped inside. Moaning at his first real taste of Calleigh.
Her mouth was sweet and welcoming. He turned his head to get a better angle, and sealed them together tighter. His mouth moved on hers in a slow rhythm. Her tongue came out to play with his. Slipping into his mouth as his retreated from hers. He was hard and aching. His hand moved lower to caress her breast only to find Conor's already there. He pulled back and looked into her passion dazed eyes. Conor's hand cupped her cheek and turned her head toward him.
He watched their lips meet and fuse. Their mouths were moving together in perfect synchronicity. Rick cupped her breast in his hand and molded the full mound. Her nipple was erect and stabbing his palm. He slid his other hand up underneath the hem of her dress. Touching and caressing the soft skin of her inner thigh. Her legs opened a little and he angled his fingers up to touch the edge of her panties. Skimming the fabric, but not reaching underneath. Little moans and cries were being swallowed by Conor's mouth as he continued to lick and devour Calleigh's plush lips.
It always made him hot to see Conor pleasuring the woman they'd chosen to bring home, but knowing that this was Calleigh. Their Calleigh. Made the experience ten times more erotic. Conor loved to kiss. It was one of his favorite things to do to a woman. He would kiss them all over for hours, while he was more of a touch person. He loved the feel of a woman between them. Touching her skin and slipping his fingers inside her body. His cock inside the snug wet heat of a pussy or hot velvet clasp of an ass could melt his brains with pleasure. Add Conor into the mix filling the woman's mouth or other available opening and the melt actually exploded. Hearing the screams of her pleasure echo in the room, feeling the rake of her nails down his back was the best feeling in the world. They would have that with Calleigh and they would have that soon.

Darkroom by Poppet

I do not know where to begin with this review! The opening scenes are visceral and they sucked me right in to that very dark room. Everytime the camera flashed in the inky black of the room I could almost feel the panic and overwhelming sensations that Shauna endured. This is not a feel good book in any way shape or form. This book is about the human psyche and the societal barriers that can be destroyed through abuse and brainwashing. I recommend Darkroom and Clawback also by Poppet as informative reading to all women. Poppet has scary insights into the female mind and the scary scary places we can be led.
Pure psychological horror in its rawest form Darkroom is intense and heavy reading that left me absolutely breathless, and because I have very Noir tendancies I loved every word of it.

Goddess with a Blade by Lauren Dane

Lauren Dane has very quickly snuck her way into my retinue of favourite favourite authors this last week. but when I read Goddess with a Blade last night the deal was sealed. Lauren Dane is now a firm favourite and I am quite looking forward to wading through all the books of hers I have yet to read.

The one thing I adore most in a book is a strong female character. Especially one that can kick ass and dole out major attitude at the same time. Rowan has all that and more in spades and I can honestly say that she has become my new all time favourite female literary hero (Yay Acheron finally has a worthy equal)
I honestly do not know where to begin in explaining how much I enjoyed this book because I am still in that zone where I am wallowing in wonderful book afterglow where I just want to gush about all the awesome final scenes that I loved so much and would just be too spoilerish for public consumption. So I will just leave off with this: If you love paranormal romance with very hot an steamy scenes, liberal amounts of yummy sexual tension, kickass characters with just a hint of vulnerability peeking through then you will love this book as much as I did.
I am going to go the unusual route of adding the prologue that never made the final cut of the book. Snagged from Lauren Danes site here

Rhythmic, Rowan’s hand smoothed the stone over the edge of the sword. Over and over. The sound slithered down her spine, gathered in her teeth. The scent of the oil she’d use when done wafted up from the soft cloth on the table nearby.
Out the window the lights of the Strip illuminated the velvet dark, but not the souls of those who wandered the streets in a happy haze. Then again, she wasn’t in the soul saving business.
Satisfied when she dropped a strand of hair over the sword edge and it sliced effortlessly, she oiled the blade and sheathed it carefully.
She laced her boots and stood. In an economic motion, she grabbed the blade and sheath and strapped them to her back. The rig was custom made and fit her perfectly. It sat against her spine, unobtrusive enough that most people didn’t see it as she made her way through the city. If they saw it, it was usually too late for them anyway.
What most people did see was a redhead who stood at just six feet. Wary brown eyes and a hard set mouth. They definitely saw her body. Tall and battle hard, her frame attracted many an eye to the voluptuous curves and the long-as-sin legs. She wasn’t beautiful. Not by general standards. Her features weren’t perfect or symmetrical and freckles scattered over her cheeks and the bridge of her nose. But there was something magnetic about her just the same. Something that made people look twice and want to know her.
Rowan knew it was the blood in her veins. Blood not only running in her maternal line. Blood descended from the Celtic triple goddess Brigid, whose sacred tree was the inspiration for Rowan’s name. The goddess who manifested herself through Rowan’s body and soul. But also her father’s blood. It made her minor royalty and connected her to the Vampire Nation tracing back thousands of years. Blood that made her intelligent, calculating, and cruel when she needed to be. And bent on revenge.
She turned to look in the mirror. The skirt was damned short but would serve as a fine distraction. The wristbands she wore stored garrote wire. Her belt had small phials of holy water. Most importantly, her blade was created on a sacred forge with blessed steel and bore the holy cross along its edge. Her blade was made to kill Vampires. Just like she was.
It was time to hunt.

  • Grab your current read
  • Open to a random page
  • Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
  • BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
  • Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

Closing eyes, running a languid hand onto a hip, I hold my arms to my sides, outlining pixie petite, ending with Goth boots and sheer black stockings. I prefer closing my eyes and just dancing, letting myself feel the aggressive music. It speaks to my basic instincts, filtering into my blood stream, turning me into a molten cup of seduction. A chalice aching for trickling liquid.

Finally it releases me; opening my eyes, surveying the dimly lit interior, searching for an exit path away from the hot sweaty bodies around me, a light flickers in the ink sheathed recess of the far wall. Dark eyes highlight, caught in the flame's illumination, staring straight at me.

Shinobi by Sessha Batto

The first thing I am going to say is that this book was phenomenal!!!!

Now for the disclaimers: This book is not for the faint of heart, squeemish, prudish, conservative or under 18s. It contains graphic homoerotic sex, mutilation and torture.

Having said all that I will go further and say that all the scenes in the book were appropriate in order to tell the story and at no time did I ever feel that anything was over done, over played or over the top. Infact without these scenes I do not think I would have been able to fall in love with the characters as whole heartedly as I did.
The central character Yoshi is the infamous Shadow Wolf of the Takahashi clans and he has a secret. A secret he has been carrying for 26 years. Shinobi is the story of what happens when his secret is revealed to one of the most dangerous men in their organisation and the series of events that unfold as a result.
Shinobi is a saga that is completely character driven. It is clear from the start that Sessha Batto has lovingly written every beautiful descriptive detail. The book is gut wrenching, extremely visceral and it cuts to the bone. Once the healing begins however we discover beauty and passion. The love scenes are endearing and sweet with just enough of everything to make them perfect.
I was not sure what to expect when I read this book and even then it surprised me I honestly could not put it down and I loved every minute of the read. I cannot wait to read Book Two Struggle for Balance coming fall 2011.
